![]() ![]() This was across 4-5 levels of a character. I played one and didn't ever take poison once, and the only time I had to make a save was getting through someone's Sanctuary. They are only strong if frequently enough targeted with magic saves or poison. Yuan-ti are frequently cited as the most powerful race, but they only have passive power. Right off the bat, it just has permenent advantage unless something has gone very wrong. Look at a kobold warlock, rogue, fighter, barbarian, extra-attack/martial Artificer, cleric, paladin, or druid compared to a non kobold one. Yes, other CLASSES can SPECIALIZE to get a limited use version of what the kobold gets, but classes are supposed to be stronger than races. They can swap ASIs around to play non dex, and permanent advantage is a lot more useful than 1-2 damage per hit. ![]() Hell you can do some fuckin nonsense with devil's sight from a feat and make an entire party that gets to feel like they have foresight against almost all enemies (adv on your attack AAAAAND disadvantage on theirs) They're small, have no strength, or con, so they can't dominate barbarian, paladin, or melee fighter, who all use/depend on GWMĪgain, they're small, so they can't use longbows or the good crossbow, which makes them poor rangers or fighters, and even then, both of those can do well what pack tactics gives through a familiar, either by class features or a feat from a variant race (which also has darkvision, doesnt have sensitivity, and also has +2 Dex, and can benefit from limited/racial feats) ![]() They have no spellcasting stats, and pack tactics doesnt help you about saves, so they're certainly not the most powerful spellcasters The real issue is that any build that exploits vision is anti social.ĭo you guys have a Blind fighting style build that is fun for everyone?ġ20ft darkvision is an extremely minor difference to get over 60ft, which is why i called it a *courtesy* kobolds are by far NOT the best race in the game, as they have fuck all to aid them in social engagements, so they can't do literally everything, so they couldnt possibly be the best, but even that aside, kobolds are good at a very very very narrow range of builds, which apart from MAYBE one of them are NOT optimal versions of their build by any means Having a 5ft and 10ft reach gives you twice the AOO oppurtunity. A monk with a dedicated weapon Whip could be good. The biggest advantage of 10ft blind sight is that you will be able to make AOOs so Pam and Sentinel are prime time. Ideally you would have an ever smoking bottle, or a team mate obscuring things for you. I like crusher and slasher because crits help your team a lot. Something like champion, elven accuracy and one of the new damage feats Crusher or Slasher. The only thing I have come up with is a crit fishing build. Most of the builds I come up with are a lot more functional with eldritch adept Devil Sight/ Darkness combo. Its only useful in heavy obsurement or some other blinding condition.ĭarkness, Fog Cloud, Stinking Cloud, Pyrotechnics, Sleet storm. ![]() 10ft of blindsight is hard to take advantage of I think. I really like this idea, but can't fit it into a build that really makes sense.
